Our first session is primarily an intake and assessment conversation. We’ll discuss what brings you to counseling, review your background and goals, and address any questions you have about the therapeutic process. It is also an opportunity for both of us to determine if we’re a good fit for working together.
-
Standard therapy sessions last 50 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions to establish momentum and build a therapeutic relationship. As you make progress toward your goals, we may adjust the frequency of our meetings.
-
The length of treatment varies depending on your individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Some clients achieve their initial goals in short-term therapy (8 to 12 sessions), while others benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly review your progress together so you feel in control of your journey.

I pull from a variety of evidence-based modalities—including CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy—depending on what fits you best. But beyond specific techniques, my counseling approach is rooted in the simple belief that you are the expert on your own experience. I am here to provide the clinical guidance and space while you lead the way. I won’t fix you or tell you who to be, but rather offer the tools, structure, and support to help you get where you want to go.
-
My goal is to make sure you get the best possible care, even if that means working with someone else. If during our initial consultation or early sessions we realize your needs fall outside my area of expertise, I will be completely transparent with you. I'm always glad to help connect you with trusted colleagues or specialized resources in the community who are a better fit for what you're experiencing.
-
I work with clients across several stages of life, including children, teenagers, and adults. I adapt my clinical tools and style to meet clients where they are developmentally—whether that means navigating school pressures, career shifts, or personal growth.
-
Absolutely. Privacy is fundamental to the therapeutic relationship, and I hold confidentiality to the highest legal and ethical standards. Nothing you share in session is disclosed without your written consent.
By law, the rare exceptions are situations involving safety—specifically imminent harm to yourself or someone else, suspected child or elder abuse/neglect, or a court subpoena.
When working with minors: Parents or legal guardians have legal access to treatment information. However, to create an effective and trusting environment for the child, I set clear privacy parameters during intake so parents are updated on safety and overall milestones, while preserving a confidential space for the youth.

Yes, I am in-network with several major insurance plans. Because coverage can vary based on your specific policy, feel free to reach out with your insurance information before our first session. I can help verify your benefits so you know exactly what to expect regarding copays, deductibles, or coverage.
If I am not in-network with your provider, or if you don't have insurance, please don't let that stop you from reaching out. We can discuss sliding scale fee options during our initial consultation to find a plan that works for you. -
Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions for clients who prefer virtual therapy or reside within the state of Alabama.
